Meeting of the CCB Communications Commission

On August 17, the Presidential Council and the Communications Commission of the Capuchin Conference of Brazil [CCB] met in Belo Horizonte to discuss issues involving collaboration, unity and formation in a digital culture. 10 years ago, the CCB felt impelled to propose a reflection on new technologies and more collaborative work among the Circumscriptions. With this in mind, a Capuchin Communications Commission - COMUNICAP – had emerged, which would soon become the current CCB Communications Commission.

The cultural transformation of recent decades due to, among other things, the impact of new technologies has affected the way we live in society. We are invited to give a living and fraternal response to these times, in which individualism and lack of empathy have given rise to a culture of exclusion and alienation. During the meeting, a new plan was drafted for the development and application of integrated communications in the Conference’s platforms and media. At the end of 2021, the Conference initiated the application of a new communications idiom, including the use of a common brand/identity for all Capuchins in Brazil. Some questions and challenges have emerged along this route, which are gradually being adjusted while the issues are being resolved.

The work of the Presidential Council with COMUNICAP is part of the attempt to unite the work of Capuchins in Brazil as an appeal for collaboration and co-responsibility and to encourage the animators and motivators of the various missions on Brazilian soil. We know that promoting integrated communications in this field of isolated initiatives among the various brethren is not an easy task. However, placing their confidence in the idea of solidarity in communications, the CCB is promoting integration among all Circumscriptions so that they share the same idioms for communication in order to spread our charism and spirituality in a clearer and more supportive way in this new digital culture.
