The International College of St. Lawrence of Brindisi Closes the 2022-2023 Academic Year

The Capuchin fraternity of the International College of St. Lawrence of Brindisi concluded the 2022-2023 academic year with a celebration on June 17, 2023. The evening began with a celebration of the Eucharist presided over by the rector of the Collegio, Br. Andrzej Kiejza, with the liturgical assistance of a choir formed by the new students. Some friars from the General Curia and other houses in Rome dependent on the General Minister were present, as well as some sisters who assist at the Collegio, employees with their families, and various guests, including friends and acquaintances of the friars.

During his homily, Br. Andrzej traced a link between the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, underscoring the importance of using one’s heart in achieving one’s academic goals. Before the final blessing, the rector read the names of the students who had completed their studies and thanked them for the commitment they’ve demonstrated during the demanding years they had spent at the Collegio.

After the celebration, everyone moved to the plaza in front of the entrance where they spent the rest of the evening tasting various typical foods of the different countries of origin of our friars, duly prepared by the friars themselves. The harmony of flavors was enriched by music: the evening ended with a spirited celebration of music and dance, expressions of the international cultural and artistic richness of our Capuchin Order.
