Br. Roberto Pasolini

On November 9, 2024, the Holy Father appointed our brother Roberto Pasolini, of the Province of Lombardy, as Preacher of the Papal Household; he takes over from His Eminence, Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa, who has carried out this ministry without interruption for 44 years. (https://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/it/bollettino/pubblico/2024/11/09/0873/01753.html#predicatore).

Br. Roberto Pasolini was born in Milan on November 5, 1971. He graduated with a degree in information sciences with a thesis on artificial intelligence at the University of Milan (1996); he entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in 1997 (perpetual profession 2002, priestly ordination 2006). After two years in the fraternity of Varese he moved to Rome to obtain a bachelor’s degree in biblical sciences (2012) and a doctorate in biblical theology (2016). From 2017 to 2024 he served as novice master in the interprovincial post-novitiate of Milan. He was professor of biblical exegesis at the Pontifical University Antonianum (2013-2017), at the Laurentianum Theological Study Center in Milan and Venice (2016-2023) and at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy (from 2020 to today). He also dedicates himself to preaching retreats and spiritual recollections.

He has published his doctorate on the Gospel of Mark, Failing and Not Missing the Target (2017) and several books on spirituality: Lovers Because Loved (2015), It Wasn't Us (2020), It Was God (2021), It Will Be Us (2022), Initiation to Prayer (2024). He also recently wrote a novel, One Day We Will Stop Dying (2023). He is creator and editor of the website Nella Parola (nellaparola.it) where commentaries on biblical texts and the liturgy of the day are collected.

We are grateful to the Holy Father for this choice that continues to honor us Capuchins, and we are indebted to Cardinal Br. Raniero Cantalamessa for his service thus far (we will soon take the opportunity to focus on him separately). To Br. Roberto Pasolini, as we share his joy, and thank him, we ask the Lord remain with him and give him the grace for a fruitful ministry as he begins his special service to Christ and to the Church.
