New Appointment: Bishop of Lindi, Tanzania

The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Wolfgang Pisa, OFMCap as Bishop of Lindi, who was until now vice parish priest (parochial vicar) at Kwangulelo Parish and a lecturer at St. Augustine University in Arusha. Bishop-elect Wolfgang Pisa, OFMCap was born on July 6, 1965 in Karatu (Diocese of Mbulu). He entered the Franciscan Order of Capuchin Friars Minor in 1990. After the novitiate (1991-1992) he studied philosophy at the Order’s formation center in Lusaka, Zambia (1992-1994), and theology at the Jordan University College of the Salvatorian Fathers in Morogoro, Tanzania (1995-1999). He made perpetual vows on August 15, 1998 and was ordained a priest on September 1, 1999.
After his ordination, he held the following positions: Lecturer and Formator at Maua Minor Seminary of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin in Moshi (1999-2000) (2003-2005); Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies and Geography, State University of Dar-es-Salaam; Rector of Maua Minor Seminary, Moshi (2005-2008); studies in Moral Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2009-2011); Provincial Minister of the Capuchin Friars Minor in Tanzania (2011-2017); Licentiate in Moral Theology at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., U.S.A. (2017-2019); Pastoral Service at Kibaigwa Parish, Metropolitan Archdiocese of Dodoma (2019-2020). From 2020 until recently, he has served as vice parish priest (parochial vicar) of Kwangulelo Parish and as a lecturer at St. Augustine University in Arusha.
