Br. Maurizio Placentino

Br. Maurizio Placentino of the Province of Foggia was elected as a new General Councilor during the General Council meeting on June 19, 2023, replacing General Councilor Br. Francesco Neri, who was recently consecrated Archbishop of Otranto. Having entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin on Oct. 6, 1996, Br. Maurizio made his perpetual profession on Sept. 30, 2000, and was ordained a priest July 3, 2004. Having completed his theological studies at the St. Fara Institute in Bari, he continued his academic formation by obtaining a licentiate in Biblical Sciences at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, and a doctorate in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Serving his province in vocation ministry and religious formation, Br. Maurizio Placentino was elected as a provincial councilor in 2013, as provincial minister in 2017 and 2020, and in November 2020 as councilor for the CIMPCap Capuchin Conference.
